Former Players Day vs Wycombe Wanderers
The Bristol Rovers Former Players Association were honoured to be guests of the Football Club on Saturday 28th September for our fixture against Wycombe Wanderers.
We were joined by 13 Former Players in the Seat Unique Hospitality Suite where we enjoyed a lovely steak meal and the company of other matchday guests who appreciated the opportunity to mix and mingle with their heroes from days gone by (some more recent than others!).
Our guest list comprised of Harold Jarman, Jim Eadie, Pete Aitken, Tom Stanton, Martin Paul and our own President Billy Clark. In addition, we were able, in collaboration with the Supporters Club, to present caps marking their debuts to Andy Rammell, Nathan Blissett, Mike England, Richard Iles, Michael Meeker, Graeme Power and Neil Arndale. Many thanks to Keith Brookman for doing the honours for us on the day.
Pete Aitken and Andy Rammell also took part in a Q and A as part of the afternoon’s entertainment and the same two players were joined by Billy Clark for pitch side interviews by Lance.
Feedback received following the event has been very positive, both from our guests and by others in the suite for the same match. It is hoped that further such events can be held later in the season as it is evident from the welcome that we received so that everyone sees the value of giving fans the opportunity to meet with their heroes.
Many thanks to everyone at the Football Club for helping us to organise this and to the players for accepting our invitation to attend. It was great to see you all.
